The Opportunity: An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join our Leeds office, delivering projects across the retail, commercial, industrial, education and residential sectors. As part of our Built Asset Consultancy team, you will take a leading role in project and professional service delivery, working with an established client base while contributing to the continued growth of the business. This role offers strong career progression, with advancement driven by performance, client delivery and leadership.
We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded individual who can take ownership of projects, build client relationships and support junior team members.
The Role: As a Senior Building Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the preparation of building survey reports and technical advice for clients
- Managing dilapidations instructions, acting for both landlords and tenants
- Undertaking inspections and preparing Schedules of Condition
- Acting as Contract Administrator to deliver refurbishment and fit-out projects
- Preparing specifications, cost estimates, programmes and scheme designs
- Managing tender processes and advising on procurement strategies
- Undertaking party wall instructions, including inspections and negotiations
- Acting in a Tenant's Surveyor capacity on development projects
- Managing client relationships and ensuring successful project outcomes
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members
- Undertaking site inspections across the UK as required
About You:
Essential:
- Degree in Building Surveying (or equivalent experience)
- Significant experience within a consultancy environment
- Strong track record in both professional and project-led services
- Proven experience in contract administration and project delivery
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Strong client-facing skills and commercial awareness
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable:
- MRICS qualified (or working towards)
- Experience within retail, commercial or industrial sectors
- Experience in delivering party wall services
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations and/or Principal Designer duties
- Awareness of the Building Safety Act and associated duty holder roles
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
