GPW Recruitment are partnering with Ford Halewood Transmissions Ltd (FHTL) in Halewood to recruit a Metrologist / Measurement Room Specialist. Ford Halewood Transmission Limited (FHTL) develops and manufactures transmissions with an employee workforce of circa 750 people. The Plant has a proud 60-year history as a local employer and is dedicated to manufacturing high quality products. Ford have invested £380m to transform the site into an electric drive manufacturing plant.

The role involves being part of the plant Quality Department and being responsible for working in both metrology and metallurgical laboratories measuring internal and externally purchased components. You will work with a varied range of teams including engineers, management, production, and maintenance personnel to deliver projects and services which support an advanced automotive manufacturing environment transforming into a world leader in electric vehicle powertrains.

Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00-15:30 and Friday 7:00-12:30. Candidates need to be flexible to work any shift pattern aligned with business requirements.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Completed Mechanical/Electrical apprenticeship and a HNC/HND equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • Good knowledge of measurement principles and processes.
  • Background in metrology laboratory measurement preferable.
  • Computer literacy - good knowledge of Word, Excel.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and willingness to learn.
  • Proven ability to work in a Team including self-motivated and flexible.
  • Good understanding of 5S and workplace organisation.

External training will be provided to gain further experience, along with a comprehensive internal training plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Measurement of internal and external purchased components using laboratory equipment and producing inspection reports.
  • Assist with Quality investigations providing measuring support.
  • Be able to work within a team to ensure tasks are in line with targets.
  • Training will be provided on specific measurement equipment, the key requirements are to have a solid appreciation of measurement principles.
