Start your career in British textile manufacturing Are you a recent graduate with a degree in science, technology, textiles or a related subject and looking for an opportunity to put your knowledge into practice?
Were looking for a curious, enthusiastic and technically minded graduate to join us for a six-month placement , working alongside experienced colleagues within our Technical and Manufacturing teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a luxury textile manufacturing environment, developing an understanding of the journey from raw fibre and yarn right through to the finished garment .
You dont need to arrive knowing everything this is a graduate placement designed to give you practical experience, develop your technical knowledge and help you build the foundations for a career in textiles, manufacturing, product technology or sustainability.
What youll be doing During your placement, youll have the opportunity to get involved in a broad range of technical and manufacturing activities, including:
Learning about fibres, yarns and raw materials, including wool, cotton, cashmere and blended yarns
Gaining practical exposure to knitting and textile manufacturing processes
Supporting dyeing, colour management and garment finishing activities
Helping investigate quality or manufacturing issues and identify possible solutions
Supporting product testing, quality assurance and technical documentation
Working with colleagues on sustainability, traceability and environmental improvement projects
Learning about textile standards, compliance and responsible manufacturing
Using data and technical information to support continuous improvement projects
Working alongside colleagues across Production, Quality, Product Development and Sustainability
Youll gain exposure to a wide range of processes and have the chance to see how science and technology are applied every day within a working textile manufacturing environment.
Who were looking for Wed love to hear from graduates who have studied a science or technology-based subject . A degree or higher-level qualification in Textiles, Textile Technology, Textile Chemistry, Textile Engineering or a related discipline would be particularly relevant , but were also interested in graduates from other scientific and technical backgrounds who have an interest in manufacturing and textiles.
More important than extensive industry experience is your attitude and potential.
Youll ideally be:
Curious and keen to understand how things work
Comfortable working with data and technical information
A logical thinker who enjoys solving problems
Organised, accurate and attentive to detail
Confident communicating and working with different teams
Interested in quality, sustainability and manufacturing
Keen to learn and develop your practical skills
Previous textile manufacturing experience is not essential. Were looking for someone who is ready to learn.
The placement Contract: 6-month Graduate Placement
Hours: 20 hours per week
Pay: Β£12.71 per hour
Holiday: 32 days including public holidays (pro rata)
Location: On-site
Working pattern: Flexible
We understand that flexibility can be important. Your 20 hours can be arranged across 3, 4 or 5 days per week , subject to agreement, giving you the opportunity to find a working pattern that suits both you and the team.
