We are looking for an experienced Manual Turner with additional CNC turning knowledge to join our turning Section. This is a hands-on role producing high-accuracy components for sectors including ceramics, bakery, scientific, medical and specialist tooling.
You will be working within a busy precision engineering environment where no two jobs are the same. Much of our work involves reverse engineering, copying worn components, or modifying previous designs, so strong problem-solving skills and an eye for detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Set and operate manual centre lathes to produce precision components
- Use CNC turning knowledge to support programming, setting and operating as required
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches and sample parts
- Apply reverse-engineering skills to replicate or improve existing components
- Inspect work using micrometres, verniers and gauges to ensure dimensional accuracy
- Work collaboratively with the Turning Section and wider workshop team
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety and quality
- Proven experience as a Manual Turner
- Working knowledge of CNC turning (setting/operating; programming beneficial but not essential)
- Ability to work from drawings, samples or worn parts
- Strong mechanical understanding and problem-solving mindset
- High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
- Reliable, proactive and able to work independently
