Document Controller

This is a great opportunity to work within a leading engineering organisation based in Nottingham.
This role is hybrid working. 2 days in the office per week.
This role is also working on an early shift which is 6am - 4:15pm.
We are seeking an Document Controller to support a short-term project focused on developing standardised project and commercial documentation tools.
The successful candidate will create robust Excel-based databases, templates, and automated workflows that allow information to be maintained in a single master file and automatically populate multiple linked documents.
The role will involve designing and building intelligent spreadsheets and databases for project execution documents such as Bills of Materials (BOMs), Packing Lists, Commercial Invoices, Product Data Registers (PDRs), Vendor Data Registers (VDRs), document trackers, and similar project deliverables.
The objective is to eliminate duplicate data entry, improve accuracy, and reduce administrative effort through automation and standardisation.
Key
Responsibilities:-
Design and develop advanced Excel-based databases and management tools.
Create master data files that automatically update linked project documents and reports.
Develop automated templates for:
Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Packing Lists
Commercial Invoices
Product Data Registers (PDRs)
Vendor Data Registers (VDRs)
Document Registers
Project Tracking Logs
Other project and commercial documentation
Build formulas, data relationships, lookups, validation rules, dashboards, and reporting tools.
Implement automation using advanced Excel functionality, including:
Power Query
Power Pivot
VBA Macros (where appropriate)
Dynamic Arrays
Advanced Formulas and Data Linking
Simplify and standardise document generation processes across multiple project teams.
Create user-friendly interfaces and instructions for end users.
Work with Project Managers, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics and Commercial teams to understand requirements and convert them into efficient Excel-based solutions.
Test and validate all tools to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
Provide knowledge transfer and user training before project completion

VBA and macro development experience.
Familiarity with document control and project delivery processes.
Experience integrating Excel with Share Point, Power BI, or other Microsoft 365 tools.
