Our client is a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing business based in Trafford Park, specialising in the production of high-quality flanges and associated products for the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, and Process industries. Renowned for quality, technical expertise, and customer service, they are seeking an experienced Estimator / Sales Engineer to join their growing team.

As an Estimator / Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for managing customer enquiries and RFQs (Requests for Quotation) from initial receipt through to order completion and delivery. Working closely with customers, production, procurement, and quality teams, you will ensure quotations are accurate, competitive, and delivered in line with customer requirements.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with strong commercial awareness and experience within a manufacturing environment serving the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process customer RFQs and technical enquiries.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for forged and machined flanges and associated products.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, material grades, and industry standards.
  • Liaise with customers to clarify technical and commercial requirements.
  • Follow up quotations and manage opportunities through to order placement.
  • Act as the primary customer contact throughout the order lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with production, planning, purchasing, and quality departments to ensure orders are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Monitor the progress of customer orders through the shop floor from order receipt to final delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records within the company's ERP and CRM systems.
  • Support business development activities by identifying opportunities with existing and prospective customers.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure repeat business.
  • Assist in resolving technical, commercial, and delivery-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, industry standards, and customer requirements.
Candidate RequirementsEssential
  • Previous experience in an Estimator, Sales Engineer, Internal Sales, or Commercial Engineering role.
  • Experience within a manufacturing, engineering, forging, machining, or flange production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and costing principles.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to customer service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
  • Experience supplying the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Energy, or Process sectors.
  • Knowledge of flange standards including ASME, ANSI, API, EN, and DIN specifications.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Knowledge of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, and super duplex grades.
