Payroll specialist in Manchester

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced payroll professional to join a growing organisation in a general payroll position. Working as part of a supportive team, you will ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while providing excellent service to internal and external stakeholders. What you'll do

• Deliver accurate payroll processing while ensuring compliance with UK payroll legislation and company policies.
• Process payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy.
• Calculate statutory payments, deductions, pensions, overtime, bonuses, and payroll adjustments.
• Process new starters, leavers, salary changes, and other employee updates.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements, pension regulations, and company procedures.
• Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
• Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner.
• Support month-end and year-end payroll activities, reporting, and audits.
• Work closely with HR and Finance to ensure payroll information is accurate.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiency.

What you'll bring

• Previous payroll experience and a solid understanding of payroll processes and UK legislation.
• Highly organised, detail-focused, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
• Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory payments.
• Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
• The ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• A payroll qualification, such as CIPP, would be beneficial but is not essential.
