An excellent opportunity has arisen for a talented Part II Architectural Assistant to join an award-winning residential developer based in Sale, Manchester. The practice has built an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality listed building conversions alongside bespoke new-build residential developments, with around 100 projects undertaken each year.

Joining a close-knit architectural team of approximately 10 professionals, the successful Part II Architectural Assistant will play a key role in the early design and planning stages of a diverse range of residential schemes. This position offers excellent exposure to planning, heritage projects and bespoke design, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a supportive in-house design team. The successful candidate will primarily be working from RIBA Stages 0-4 and gain experience and exposure working within a multidiscipline team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide variety of residential developments, including listed building conversions, bespoke new-build homes and heritage-led regeneration projects. Schemes vary significantly in both size and value, with every development individually designed rather than using standard house types. The role offers excellent exposure to planning, heritage conservation, residential design and collaboration with local authorities and communities.

Part II Architectural Assistant Overview

  • Assist in developing concept designs, feasibility studies and planning proposals across a range of residential developments.
  • Produce planning drawings including plans, elevations and sections for planning submissions.
  • Prepare supporting planning documentation including Design & Access Statements, presentation material and visualisations.
  • Contribute to projects across RIBA Stages 0-4, supporting the progression from concept through to planning approval.
  • Coordinate with internal Technical, Commercial, Sales and Construction teams throughout the design process.
  • Undertake site surveys and regular site visits.
  • Attend meetings with local authorities, consultants and senior stakeholders.
  • Support public consultation events and assist in presenting proposed developments.
  • Maintain organised project documentation and drawing records.

Part II Architectural Assistant Position Requirements

  • RIBA Part II qualified (Barch & March)
  • Good knowledge using either AutoCAD or Revit
  • Strong design and presentation skills supported by a high-quality portfolio
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach
  • Enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and develop professionally
  • Previous experience working on residential projects would be beneficial
  • Experience with listed buildings or heritage projects would also be advantageous
  • Full UK Driving Licence and own transport preferred due to site visits
