Given our continued success, we are actively seeking a Facilities Technician to join our growing laboratory support team in Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in supporting our laboratory operations by ensuring our scientific equipment, facilities and support services are maintained to the highest standards. You'll gain exposure to a wide variety of activities, from equipment qualification and asset management to laboratory support and working alongside engineers and suppliers.

ABOUT YOU
The position requires a highly organised, proactive individual who enjoys working in a regulated laboratory environment and takes pride in following procedures and maintaining high standards. You may already have some laboratory or pharmaceutical experience, or you may be looking to build your career within a scientific environment. More importantly, we're looking for someone with the right attitude, willingness to learn and an appreciation of the importance of quality, compliance and attention to detail. Working as part of a close-knit team, you'll receive hands-on mentoring and gradually develop your knowledge across several areas of laboratory operations.
Required skills and experience:
- Laboratory or pharmaceutical experience would be advantageous, although full training will be provided
- Understanding of working within a regulated environment or following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would be beneficial
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Basic IT literacy skills
- Flexible and adaptable approach with a willingness to support a variety of activities across the laboratory
- Motivated with a genuine desire to learn and develop
- Experience with laboratory equipment or pharmaceutical materials would be advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records
- Highly organised with a proactive approach to problem-solving
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Facilities Technician, you'll provide essential support to our laboratory operations, helping ensure our equipment, facilities and processes remain compliant and ready to support scientific testing. This is far more than a traditional laboratory support role. You'll gain experience across several areas of the business, including equipment qualification, asset management, laboratory facilities and operational support, working alongside experienced colleagues who will mentor and develop you.
No two days are the same. One day you may be supporting equipment qualification activities, the next assisting visiting engineers, maintaining laboratory assets or ensuring critical consumables and facilities are operating effectively. Throughout everything you do, you'll help maintain the high standards of compliance expected within a GMP-regulated laboratory. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a long-term career within a global pharmaceutical testing organisation.
Key activities:
- Support laboratory operations through a range of facilities, equipment and laboratory support activities
- Assist with routine equipment qualification activities, including balances, pH meters and other laboratory equipment
- Support the maintenance of laboratory assets and equipment to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Work alongside engineers and external suppliers during equipment servicing and maintenance activities
- Process laboratory samples and consumables in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
- Carry out stock checks and support the ordering of laboratory consumables
- Receive, process and distribute deliveries to laboratory teams
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across laboratory and Goods In/Goods Out areas
- Perform routine maintenance and checks on laboratory support equipment, including glass washers and purified water systems
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to support GMP compliance
- Build effective working relationships with colleagues across multiple departments to support the smooth running of laboratory operations
