On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Civil Engineer for a 12 months contract based in Manchester. Please note that this role is going to be hybrid with a mix of 3 days/week working from the office and the remaining days working from home.
Purpose of the Civil Engineer role:
- You will be involved in the planning, design and delivery of complex civil engineering solutions for hyperscale data centres, grid reinforcement schemes, substations, transmission infrastructure and associated development works.
- Supporting the design and delivery of civil engineering solutions for data centre and electricity transmission infrastructure projects.
- Developing site layouts, drainage strategies, earthworks designs, access arrangements and utility coordination solutions.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated and sustainable engineering designs.
- Producing technical designs, drawings, calculations and reports to a high standard.
- Engaging with clients, stakeholders and project teams to develop practical and innovative outcomes.
- Taking ownership of defined elements of projects, including checking the quality and accuracy of your work.
- Contributing to the continued development of digital engineering, BIM-led delivery and data-driven design approaches.
The skills you'll need:
- Experience in civil engineering design and project delivery.
- Knowledge of relevant design standards, guidance and industry best practice.
- Experience delivering site development, utilities, energy or major infrastructure projects.
- Experience using design software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, AutoCAD or similar packages.
- An interest in digital design, BIM and/or automation within engineering delivery.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to problem solving.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Progression toward or achievement of professional chartership (ICE or equivalent) would be advantageous.
