Rate: £30.00 per hour (PAYE) | £35.00-£40.00 per hour (Umbrella / Outside IR35)

Gap Technical is seeking skilled Maintenance Engineers to provide ad-hoc shift cover across a range of manufacturing sites in the Wirral area. Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults using technical documentation and engineering expertise.
  • Fault-find on 3-phase electrical systems, drives, PLC I/O, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with production and operations teams to maximise equipment reliability and performance.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

About You

We're looking for engineers who have:

  • A completed time-served engineering apprenticeship (preferred).
  • Previous experience within manufacturing or production environments.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across:
    • 3-Phase Electrical Systems
    • Drives & Inverters
    • PLC I/O
    • Pneumatic Systems
    • Hydraulic Systems
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to work independently and adapt quickly to different manufacturing sites.
  • Experience within FMCG, Packaging, Food & Beverage or Chemical manufacturing is advantageous but not essential.
