We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a young disabled adult with cerebral palsy, who is based in Maidenhead. Our client is looking for a like-minded individual to join his current team and assist him with daily living. This is an amazing opportunity to help make a positive impact on a young adult's life.
Start Date: IMMEDIATE START
Hours: Between 16 to 20 hours per weekend, every other weekend (overtime and holiday/sickness cover will be available)
Rate of Pay: £12.71 per hour + 5.6 weeks holiday per year
Location: Maidenhead
Care experience is not required as full training in the client's requirements will be provided; the client knows what needs to be done and can always direct you.
Job Overview:
- Assistance with personal care (pre- and post-showering)
- Picking clothes and getting dressed for the day
- Meal preparation, usually just breakfast and lunch
- Occasional other personal care assistance e.g. cutting fingernails
- Occasional cleaning of the bedroom
- Travelling to appointments and meetings (you will have access to the client's own car)
- Occasional other trips e.g. church or theatre, this will always be planned in advance
About the client:
The client has many hobbies, but the main driving force in their life is music. They enjoy playing/composing on the piano and singing, especially musical theatre. The client also volunteers with a local charity called Art Beyond Belief several times per week. These meetings are sometimes on Zoom and sometimes in person, for which they will require help travelling to. Other passions include music technology, synthesisers, aircraft, retro and modern gaming, as well as reading various audiobooks, especially science fiction. The client likes to work out several times per week, going to a local park. On weekends, they enjoy visiting local towns, seeing friends, eating out at restaurants, and attending church events.
Please note that the client often likes to be independent, and there may be some days where they will not be going out anywhere and may require less direct assistance. In these cases, it is hoped that you will be fine occupying yourself; there is a spare room designated for PAs which has a sofa and TV.
About you:
- Someone with whom the client can have long conversations
- Laid-back in certain situations, as the client can get stressed quickly
- Organised, as the client can often overlook critical details
- Must have a full clean driving licence and be comfortable driving in London occasionally
- Respectful of the family home, as the client lives with their parents
The typical working arrangement is that weekend PAs will work on alternate weekends. However, there may be instances where this is not always possible, and you may be asked to cover your off weekend. While there is never an obligation to work when not scheduled, flexibility in this regard is greatly appreciated. Typical working hours are from 09:30am to 16:30pm, and changes will be communicated in advance.

- Good organisational skills and ability to work on your own initiative
- A good sense of humour
- Mature and responsible attitude with the ability to be assertive if needed
- Full clean UK driving licence and comfort driving into London, often at peak times
- Clean and tidy in both appearance and ways
