Our Broadcast industry client are recruiting for a Technical Architect from a Video on Demand/TV Broadcasting sector background with:
- In-depth understanding of modern cloud infrastructure
- Strong, hands-on experience of AWS technologies (ideally AWS Media Services - MediaConvert, MediaConnect, MediaLive)
Broadcast Media VoD sector knowledge should include:
- A general understanding of the Media Supply Chain
- Exposure to scheduling systems, play-out, VoD preparation
- Working knowledge of media codecs, container formats and protocols
Responsibilities include:
- Working with major broadcast media sector clients (broadcasters, network operators etc.)
- Providing design and delivery of bespoke, cloud-based software solutions
- Involvement throughout the project lifecycle
- Working with customers' product owners and other stakeholders to understand business requirements
- Helping select applicable technologies and making key design decisions
- Collaborating with pre-sales and development teams to explore implementation options
- Documenting designs and collaborating with project management, development and test teams
- Establishing project environments, CI/CD pipelines, automated test strategy and tooling
- Supporting the project team throughout the delivery phase
- Ensuring that the delivered product meets standards of quality, security and reliability
- Supporting customers and development/test teams through launch and beyond
Must have (soft skills):
- Excellent interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships with stakeholders
- Modesty, honesty and a willingness to accept ownership and responsibility
- Ability to self-organise with excellent attention to detail
- Risk identification and management skills
- Good verbal and written English
Must have (industry experience):
- General understanding of the Media Supply Chain
- Exposure to scheduling systems, play-out, VoD preparation
- Working knowledge of media codecs, container formats and protocols
Must have (technical):
- In-depth understanding of modern cloud infrastructure
- A track record of delivering complex software projects using AWS technologies
- Competency in JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python
- Practical experience of:
- Databases: NoSQL and RDBMS
- Compute: AWS Lambda, containers and orchestration (EC2, Fargate, Kubernetes)
- Messaging/integration: SQS, SNS, EventBridge
- Storage: S3, EBS, EFS
- An understanding of event-driven architecture
- An understanding of lean/agile development methodologies
- Proficient in using AI in day-to-day tasks and incorporating AI into software solutions
- The ability to mentor a dev team in the effective application of AI throughout the SDLC

- AWS certification
