21HSC are recruiting on behalf of a leading health and social care organisation for an experienced and motivated Service Manager to lead the delivery and development of a Care at Home service. The organisation provides high-quality care and support to individuals in their own homes, with a strong focus on person-centred care, positive outcomes and continuous service improvement. They operate across a number of locations, with opportunities available across Glasgow, Edinburgh and West Lothian.
The Service Manager will provide strong operational leadership across the service, ensuring high standards of care, regulatory compliance and effective workforce management. The successful candidate will oversee care coordination, quality assurance, staff development and service growth, while ensuring people receiving support remain at the centre of decision-making.
A key focus of the role will be the safe and sustainable growth of the service, ensuring increases in referrals, capacity and delivered hours are appropriately planned and resourced without compromising quality, compliance, colleague wellbeing or service user safety.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide strong operational leadership across the Care at Home service.
- Lead, support and develop Care Coordinators, Quality Assurance staff and wider care teams.
- Oversee the coordination and delivery of safe, continuous and person-centred care.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulation and the Health and Social Care Standards.
- Maintain high-quality, individualised care planning and appropriate risk management.
- Lead quality assurance, auditing, complaints analysis and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the service is appropriately resourced and able to respond effectively to new referrals.
- Develop strong relationships with service users, families, colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring value for money.
- Identify recruitment, training and development needs across the service.
- Support the management of complaints, concerns, investigations and disciplinary matters.
- Maintain effective health and safety and infection prevention and control procedures.
- Participate in an on-call rota as required.
- Support the strategic development and growth of the service.
- Increase delivered hours and maximise referral opportunities while maintaining high standards of care.
- Produce management reports and contribute to senior management meetings.
- Represent the service at external and multi-agency meetings.
- Promote a positive culture of learning, development and best practice.
Essential/Desirable Skills and Attributes:
- Relevant professional qualification, such as Social Work, Nursing or SVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care.
- Candidates with SVQ Level 3 and significant relevant experience may be considered, subject to achieving Level 4 within 12 months.
- Previous experience in a similar management or service leadership role is desirable.
- Experience of business management and budget control.
- Strong understanding of Care at Home and community-based services.
- Experience leading and developing teams.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation and the Health and Social Care Standards.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience of service development and continuous improvement.
- Strong organisational, analytical and decision-making skills.
- Proactive, professional and values-led approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
- PVG/Disclosure Scotland check required.
- Previous experience working within a Care at Home or community setting.
