A major government delivery programme is transforming services across a public sector body, requiring skilled engineers to master data across current and new systems using Semarchy, the organisation's chosen MDM tool. The Senior Test Engineer will lead quality assurance activities for the Semarchy MDM platform, validating data models, migrations, governance controls, APIs and integrations, and ensuring mastered property, customer and trade datasets meet requirements before deployment to user testing environments. The successful candidate will work alongside architecture colleagues and service teams to help inform and set data strategy as well as delivering hands-on testing work.

Primary Requirements:

  • Experience and skills in Semarchy XDM and SDP
  • Strong experience testing Master Data Management (MDM) solutions, ideally Semarchy
  • Advanced SQL and data analysis skills
  • Experience validating data migrations and data loads
  • Integration and API testing
  • Functional and non-functional testing
  • Ability to develop and maintain automated test suites

Core Responsibilities (SFIA Level 5):

  • Define, own, and communicate test strategies aligned to delivery, business risk, and government service standards
  • Select and tailor test approaches (manual, automated, exploratory, risk-based) appropriate to complex systems and integrations
  • Provide authoritative advice on test scope, entry/exit criteria, and quality risks to delivery and product leadership
  • Balance pragmatism with assurance, ensuring proportionate testing within Agile delivery constraints
  • Lead the design and evolution of automated test frameworks (UI, API, or service-level)
  • Define what should and should not be automated, considering value, maintainability, and risk
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and advise teams on improving feedback cycles
  • Evaluate and recommend testing tools, frameworks, and practices to improve effectiveness and efficiency
  • Plan, build and execute non-functional testing activities, including performance, accessibility, security, resilience, and interoperability
  • Work collaboratively with specialists and suppliers to ensure appropriate coverage where tooling or expertise is shared
  • Interpret test results and articulate business and user impact, not just technical outcomes
  • Ensure NFT evidence is sufficient to support confident release decisions

Tech Stack:

  • Test automation using JavaScript-based frameworks such as WebdriverIO, Playwright or Cypress
  • Open-source JS-based libraries/frameworks for API testing, or Postman
  • JMeter or K6 for load and performance testing
  • CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and AWS, or ADO in Azure
  • GitHub
  • Exploratory test techniques to focus testing on areas of greatest risk

Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
