Based on-site at HMP Pentonville, our Radio Production Tutors work with our management team and other PeoplePlus staff to familiarise themselves with the curriculum and individual schemes of learning. Within your role, you will provide cover to small groups of prison-based learners. You will support with the development of skills, knowledge, and behaviours while supporting them with their long-term goals and aspirations.

Our Tutors ensure that the appropriate training plans are in place and that the advice and guidance is given when required while ensuring they deliver the highest level of quality courses that engage with the learners and help them to reach their potential.

What you will be doing?

  • Curriculum Development and Planning: Designing, planning, and preparing engaging course materials, lesson plans, and schemes of work that cover the entire production workflow from idea generation to final delivery.
  • Instruction and Training: Delivering lectures, leading practical workshops, and providing one-on-one guidance in areas such as scriptwriting, researching topics/guests, conducting interviews, and operating studio equipment.
  • Technical Skills Training: Teaching students how to use industry-standard hardware (microphones, mixing desks, recording equipment) and software for recording, editing, and mixing audio to broadcast standards.
  • Practical Project Supervision: Overseeing student projects, such as creating short documentaries, magazine shows, or radio dramas, providing feedback and direction throughout the production process.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Assessing student progress and achievement through practical assignments, providing constructive criticism, and helping them build a professional portfolio of work.
  • Industry Context and Compliance: Educating students on industry practices, professional standards, copyright laws, intellectual property rights, and health and safety regulations.
  • Mentorship and Career Guidance: Offering advice on potential career paths, helping students network, and preparing them for the demands of working in the fast-paced media industry.
  • Administrative Duties: Managing class registers, maintaining student records, and handling other administrative tasks related to the course.

What are we looking for?

  • Level 2 Maths and English, or equivalent
  • An expert in your field with substantial experience
  • Experience of delivering training
  • A level 5 teaching or assessing qualification is desirable
  • Ability to display a wide range of training methods to engage learners along with flexibility to deliver qualifications across a variety of subjects
