We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Operative to play a vital role in ensuring our home, grounds and facilities remain safe, compliant and presented to the highest standard.
About the Role
As our Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the day-to-day upkeep of the home, carrying out repairs, preventative maintenance and safety checks to ensure everything runs smoothly for residents and colleagues alike. You will work closely with the General Manager to maintain a welcoming, homely environment while ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and supporting the overall delivery of outstanding care. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in solving problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the home within your level of competence.
- Complete planned maintenance schedules and regular safety inspections, including fire safety checks, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Promptly report and follow up any maintenance issues or defects with the General Manager.
- Ensure the home complies with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, COSHH, Food Safety and other relevant legislation and company policies.
- Liaise with external contractors, ensuring authorised works are completed safely and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain the building, fixtures, fittings and equipment to a high standard, helping to minimise disruption to residents and staff.
- Keep the gardens and external areas clean, tidy and well presented throughout the year.
- Respect residents' privacy, dignity and preferences, carrying out work sensitively to minimise inconvenience.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a friendly, supportive and welcoming environment.
- Participate in the home's emergency on-call rota when required.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous maintenance, facilities or general handyman experience.
- Is practical, organised and able to work independently.
- Takes pride in maintaining high standards and attention to detail.
- Has a good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
- Enjoys problem solving and finding practical solutions.
- Has excellent communication skills and works well as part of a team.
- Is approachable, reliable and committed to creating a safe environment for residents and colleagues.
Working Pattern
Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm Average 40 hours per week Participation in the emergency on-call rota is required.
Pay
Hourly Rate: £16.14
