Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, Drift Services Group is looking to recruit experienced Lead Drillers and Assistant Drillers (Second Men) to join our expanding drilling teams. We work across the UK delivering a range of projects including water boreholes, open-loop geothermal systems, pump testing, grouting operations and associated groundwater engineering works.
As part of our drilling teams, you will work on projects throughout the UK. Working away from home is a standard part of the role, with accommodation provided by the company.
Responsibilities will vary depending on experience and position but will include:
- Operating and assisting with drilling rigs and associated plant and equipment to include mud treatment plants, telehandlers and drill rigs
- Water borehole and open-loop geothermal drilling activities
- Pump testing and groundwater monitoring works
- Grouting and associated site activities
- Welding and fabrication activities where appropriate
- Daily inspections and maintenance of plant and equipment
- Completion of site records, logs and documentation
- Loading, unloading and general site duties
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping on site
- Working safely and in accordance with company procedures and site requirements
What we're looking for:
Lead Drillers
- Proven experience in a drilling environment
- Experience in delivering large diameter water wells and open loop geothermal drilling is essential
- Experience leading drilling operations and supervising site activities
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements
- Ability to complete drilling records and site documentation accurately
- Positive attitude and ability to lead by example
Assistant Drillers (Second Men)
- Previous drilling or construction experience desirable, but not essential
- Willingness to learn and develop within the industry
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team
- Positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in
- Commitment to always working safely
Essential requirements:
- Valid CSCS Card
- NVQ Level 2 in Land Rotary Drilling
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Flexibility to work away from home across the UK
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Previous experience within the water well or geothermal sectors
Desirable qualifications and experience:
- First Aid certification
- Telehandler qualification
- Welding experience
- Experience of pump testing activities
- Grouting experience
- Other relevant construction or plant certifications
