Lead Principal Designer β High-Rise Residential London | Hybrid Working
Carriera is partnering with a true leader in the residential construction sector to recruit a Lead Principal Designer specialising in Building Regulations for high-rise buildings (HRBs). This is a senior role for an experienced professional who has a proven track record of taking projects through to Gateway 2 and thrives in a leadership capacity.
Candidates that apply MUST be on any of the following HRB regsiters APS/RIBA/CIAT.
The Role You will lead a highly skilled team of three Building Regulations / Principal Designers, overseeing the design management and compliance of high-rise residential projects. Acting as the go-to expert on building regulations, you will provide strategic oversight, ensure design quality, and mentor your team while liaising directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a team of 3 BR/PDs across multiple high-rise residential projects
Ensure projects comply with building regulations and Principal Designer duties
Oversee applications through to Gateway 2 approvals
Act as the principal point of contact for clients and design teams regarding regulatory compliance
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to your team
Review and approve design risk assessments, method statements, and project documentation
Collaborate with contractors and stakeholders to ensure high-quality delivery
Ensure adherence to RIBA, APS, and CIAT standards for Principal Designers
About You Registered on RIBA, APS, or CIAT as a Principal Designer
Extensive experience in high-rise residential projects
Proven track record of managing teams and delivering projects through Gateway 2
Strong knowledge of building regulations and compliance requirements
Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
