The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking.

On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Lead AML AI SME (Google Cloud) for a 6 Month contract based in UK (2 days per week in office in any client's major hubs)
Purpose of the role:
As Lead AML AI SME (Google Cloud), you will lead the adoption, optimisation, and governance of a cutting-edge AI-driven Transaction Monitoring solution.

This is a hands-on SME role for someone with experience training, tuning, validating, and improving machine learning models in production environments.

You'll act as the bridge between AML Operations, Model Risk, Compliance, and Engineering teams, helping drive the transition from traditional rules-based monitoring to AI-powered detection.

What you'll do:
Lead the tuning, optimisation, and configuration strategy for Google Cloud AML AI models.

Define and execute backtesting frameworks to validate model performance against legacy Transaction Monitoring approaches.

Establish alert thresholds and monitoring strategies that balance model effectiveness with operational capacity.

Educate and upskill business stakeholders on AI outputs, model explainability, risk scoring, and governance principles.

Partner with AML Operations, Compliance, Model Risk, and Engineering teams to align business objectives and technical delivery.

Drive model governance, validation, documentation, and regulatory readiness activities.

The skills you'll need:
Hands-on experience training, tuning, and optimising Machine Learning models.

Strong background in AML, Transaction Monitoring, Financial Crime, or Fraud Analytics.

Demonstrable experience running backtesting exercises and measuring model performance.

Strong technical capability with Python, SQL, Big Query, and cloud-based ML environments.

Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language and educate stakeholders.

Proven experience working across business, risk, and technology functions to deliver AI-driven solutions.
