ROLE OVERVIEW:
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) Data Migration Consultant to support a portfolio of CX365 replatforming projects within the legal technology sector. The primary focus of this role is to plan, build, test and deliver complex data migrations from legacy Microsoft Dynamics CRM environments into Dynamics 365 CE, using established product templates and client-specific requirements. The consultant will work across multiple concurrent client projects, supporting the migration of core CRM data, associated records and relationships while ensuring data quality, reconciliation and a controlled transition into the target platform.
Alongside migration delivery, the role will provide specialist support for data cleansing activities where required, including data analysis, deduplication, transformation, validation and remediation. The consultant will work closely with data analysts, product specialists, client stakeholders, technical teams, testers and project management to deliver reliable, client-facing outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a technical subject matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE data migration activity across multiple client replatforming projects.
- Review source-system data and map legacy Microsoft Dynamics CRM entities, fields, relationships and reference data to the Dynamics 365 CE target data model.
- Design, build, test and execute migration scripts, packages and repeatable migration processes for core CRM entities and associated data.
- Support data extraction, transformation, loading and reconciliation activities, using appropriate migration and data integration tools.
- Investigate and resolve migration issues, including data quality defects, missing records, invalid relationships, mapping problems and migration exceptions.
- Validate migrated data through record counts, sampling, reconciliation reports and functional testing in collaboration with client teams and test resources.
- Support migration rehearsal cycles, cutover planning, production migration activity and post-migration verification.
- Work closely with product and client technical teams to understand target-environment configuration, dependencies, security constraints and migration readiness requirements.
- Provide technical input into migration estimates, delivery plans, assumptions, risks and dependencies.
- Maintain clear technical documentation, including mapping specifications, migration runbooks, validation outputs, issue logs and handover materials.
- Support client workshops and working sessions to clarify data requirements, agree migration approach and resolve delivery blockers.
- Assist with post-go-live troubleshooting and data remediation where required.
Data Cleansing and Data Quality Responsibilities
Although migration delivery is the primary focus of the role, the consultant must also be able to support structured data cleansing activities that prepare client data for migration or improve the quality of existing Dynamics environments. This may include:
- Analysing source data to identify duplicate, incomplete, inactive, invalid or incorrectly linked records.
- Supporting the design and execution of data cleansing scripts and controlled bulk-update activities.
- Applying agreed rules for deduplication, standardisation, enrichment, transformation and record deactivation.
- Supporting rollback planning, testing and controlled execution for data cleansing activities.
- Working with business and technical stakeholders to validate cleansing rules and assess downstream impacts.
- Producing data quality findings, exception reports and recommendations for remediation.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Proven experience delivering data migration projects involving Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement.
- Strong practical understanding of the Dynamics 365 CE data model, including entities, fields, relationships, activities, owners, teams, business units and reference data.
- Experience mapping, transforming and migrating high volumes of CRM data between legacy and target environments.
- Experience building and executing migration scripts or packages using relevant tools, such as KingswaySoft, SSIS, SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Power Platform tools or equivalent data integration technologies.
- Strong SQL and data-analysis capability, including the ability to investigate data quality issues, validate migration outputs and reconcile large datasets.
- Experience of data cleansing, deduplication, transformation, validation and bulk-data remediation activities.
- Understanding of Dynamics 365 CE configuration and how workflows, plugins, integrations, customisations and security settings can affect migration activity.
- Experience supporting test cycles, user acceptance testing, migration rehearsals, cutover activity and post-go-live support.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project managers, business analysts, data analysts, testers, product teams and client stakeholders.
- Strong documentation skills, including the ability to produce mapping documents, technical runbooks, reconciliation reports and migration handover materials.
- Experience working within Agile, hybrid or project-based delivery environments.
- Comfortable working across several client projects at once, managing priorities and communicating risks early.
Desirable
- Experience of legal-sector CRM, case-management or customer-engagement platforms.
- Experience migrating data into Litera CX365 or similar Dynamics 365-based legal technology products.
- Experience with Power Platform, Dataverse, Power Automate and Dynamics 365 integrations.
- Familiarity with Azure-based data integration and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience working with APIs, middleware and integration platforms.
