At Quest Global, UK, we are actively looking for an experienced Aero Gas Turbine Drawing Checker who holds current OEM-delegated checking approval. The successful candidate will provide independent technical assurance of engineering drawings and associated product definition data before release, ensuring that design intent, safety, quality, configuration and manufacturability requirements are fully satisfied.

In this technical role, as a checker you should be able to operate with minimal supervision, exercise delegated authority within its defined scope and complexity, and work effectively with design, manufacturing, stress, materials, quality and configuration-management teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently check aero gas turbine component, assembly, installation and interface drawings in accordance with applicable OEM procedures, engineering standards and delegated authority requirements.
  • Verify design intent, dimensional completeness, datum strategies, tolerance schemes, GD&T, limits and fits, materials, processes, surface treatments, notes and drawing conventions.
  • Confirm consistency between 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, bills of material, specifications, interface data and product lifecycle management records.
  • Assess drawings for clarity, producibility, inspectability, assembly, maintainability and avoidance of ambiguity or conflicting requirements.
  • Review tolerance stacks and interface conditions, challenging assumptions where necessary and ensuring that functional requirements are protected.
  • Identify errors, omissions and technical risks; record clear findings and work with authors to achieve right-first-time closure.
  • Apply OEM delegated approval only within the authorised commodity, project, product, complexity and release scope.
  • Maintain full compliance with configuration control, change management, data security, export control, and quality management requirements.
  • Support drawing releases, engineering changes, design reviews, audits, concessions and investigations where drawing interpretation is required.
  • Provide technical coaching to designers and developing checkers, sharing lessons learned and recurring defect themes.
  • Contribute to checker guidance, checklists, drawing audits, capability development and continuous improvement activity.
  • Escalate matters outside delegated scope or technical competence to the appropriate OEM authority.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Current OEM-delegated drawing checking approval for aero gas turbine product definition; applicants must clearly state the OEM, product or commodity scope, permitted complexity and expiry or review status.
  • Substantial experience in gas turbine mechanical design, detailing and drawing checking, normally gained over at least five years within the relevant OEM environment.
  • Proven checking experience on one or more aero-engine commodities such as turbines, compressors, structures and transmissions, rotatives, casings, externals, installations, pipework or control-system hardware.
  • Expert knowledge of engineering drawing principles, GD&T, datum systems, tolerance analysis, limits and fits, manufacturing methods and inspection requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge of the applicable OEM design and drawing standards, release procedures and delegated authority governance.
  • Experience using relevant 3D CAD and PLM/PDM systems, such as Siemens NX and Teamcenter, or equivalent OEM toolsets.
  • Ability to interpret design requirements, specifications, change documentation and interface definitions and to make sound, auditable technical judgements.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and personal accountability, supported by clear written and verbal communication.
  • Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in mechanical, aerospace, aeronautical or manufacturing engineering, or demonstrable equivalent industry experience.
Delegated Approval Requirements
  • Appointment is subject to verification of the candidates delegated authority and competence record.
  • Delegation is not assumed to transfer automatically between OEM programmes, component groups or complexity levels. Where required, the successful candidate must complete the OEMs read-across, reassessment or local authorisation process before exercising approval authority.
Desirable Experience
  • Delegated checking approval across multiple aero-engine commodities, projects or complexity levels.
  • Experience of drawing release authority, technical review, design approval or supplier technical review.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and aerospace quality management requirements, including AS9100 principles.
  • Experience checking legacy-to-digital conversions, model-based definition, complex castings, forgings, machined parts or installation definitions.
  • Background in design for manufacture and assembly, non-conformance resolution, root cause analysis or zero defect improvement.
  • Experience mentoring prospective delegated checkers or supporting formal checker assessments and audits.
