We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to work in our professional corporate kitchen based near Liverpool Street. This role offers the opportunity to work in a small collaborative team, playing a crucial role in delivering bespoke, fine dining menus for client lunches, dinners and canape events. Lunches take place on a daily basis and there is approximately one evening event per week.

You will be expected to demonstrate a proactive approach, excellent attention to detail, and a strong team ethos, particularly during busier periods. It is essential that the high standard of food is maintained whilst ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly and efficiently.

You will report to the Head Chef and work closely with the other three chefs, two kitchen porters and six waiting staff. The successful candidate will also assist with administrative duties such as menu planning, ordering, invoicing, food safety checks and supplier management.

Salary & Benefits

  • Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm, with additional paid overtime for breakfasts or evening events (approximately one event per week)
  • Pension: 5% contribution from Arbuthnot Latham as long as the employee contributes 5%
  • Holiday: 25 days

Job Requirements

  • Catering college (Leiths Diploma, Le Cordon Bleu, Ballymalloe, City & Guilds, HND) is preferred but not essential
  • Excellent cooking skills and techniques
  • Experience in a professional kitchen
  • An understanding of seasonal produce and ingredients
  • The ability to write menus that are both creative and cost effective
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Efficient and methodical approach to food preparation and service
  • Good presentation skills
  • Interest in current food trends and fashions
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Good understanding of Food Safety and Level 3 Qualification would be preferable
  • Good understanding of COSHH requirements
