Cassandra Experienced Data Engineer Needed!
I'm currently supporting one of my investment banking clients who are looking to bring on a Data Engineer on an initial 6 month contract with scope of extension with Cassandra experience.
The role will require 2-3 days a week in the London office with my client being able to pay up to £700 per day inside IR35.
Responsibilities include:
Design, implement and maintain Apache Cassandra clusters , including keyspace design, replication strategies and partitioning models.
Develop and optimise data models aligned to query patterns (denormalization , partition key design, avoiding hotspots and wide partitions).
Performance tuning: compaction strategies consistency levels, read/write path optimisation, JVM/GC tuning.
Manager cluster operations: node additions/decommissions, repairs (node tool), backups and disaster recovery.
Monitor cluster health using tools such as Prometheus/Grafana, Ops Center, or equivalent.
Support CQL query development and advice application teams on best-practice access patterns.
Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams on hardening, encryption (at rest/in transit) and authentication/authorisation (RBAC)
Produce technical documentation including data models, runbooks, and operational procedures.
