A welcoming primary school in Pimlico is looking for a committed Autism Support Assistant to support a Year 1 pupil with high needs ASD on a 1:1 basis. This is a full-time, long-term role suited to someone patient, active and confident supporting young children with additional needs.
Autism Support Assistant key information:
- Full-time Autism Support Assistant role starting in September
- Based at a supportive Church of England primary school in Pimlico
- Supporting a Year 1 pupil with high needs ASD
- Pupil is non-verbal, sensory seeking and requires consistent 1:1 support
- Role based mainly within the school's small SEND room
- Full support and guidance provided by the SENCO
- Hours: 08:30 - 16:00, with a 45-minute break
- Pay: £85.79 per day, plus £10.35 holiday pay accrued daily
- Trial/assessment day to include an interview
The successful Autism Support Assistant will need at least 6-9 months of experience working in EYFS or KS1. Experience supporting children with ASD, speech and language needs, sensory needs or high levels of additional need would be highly beneficial.
As an Autism Support Assistant, you will help the pupil access routines, regulate through sensory breaks, engage with short learning activities and remain safe and settled throughout the school day. This Autism Support Assistant role would suit someone calm, energetic, nurturing and consistent, with the confidence to follow SENCO guidance and build a positive relationship with the pupil.
