Purchasing
Each day within our Purchasing department is a seamless orchestration of sourcing products that uphold Claridges standards, while ensuring seamless coordination as deliveries arrive from a variety of suppliers. As part of the Purchasing department, you will pay meticulous attention to every item that enters the hotel and ensure that it is handled and distributed with the same care that defines the service we provide to our guests. It is a department rooted in anticipation and refinementbalancing cost, quality, and timing to support every department behind the scenes.
As Assistant Director of Purchasing you will be responsible for:
Supporting the Director of Purchasing in driving procurement strategy, supplier performance, cost savings, and operational excellence.
Managing sourcing activities, supplier negotiations, quotations, and tender processes to secure best value, quality, and service.
Assisting with supplier contract management, performance reviews, KPI monitoring, and supplier consolidation initiatives.
Acting as a key user and champion of Adaco procurement system, ensuring its effective use to improve purchasing controls, inventory management, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Supporting system enhancements, process improvements, and the implementation of best procurement practices across the business.
Assisting in the development and implementation of procurement policies, SOPs, and internal controls to ensure compliance and consistency.
Overseeing the day-to-day operation of purchasing, receiving, stores, and inventory functions, ensuring uninterrupted supply across the hotel.
Ensuring purchase orders, deliveries, invoices, and stock movements are accurately processed and controlled through Adaco and company procedures.
Monitoring inventory levels, supporting stock counts, and reducing waste, spoilage, and excess inventory.
Supervising, coaching, and developing the Purchasing team while promoting a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Producing procurement reports, spend analysis, and supplier performance reviews to support informed business decisions.
Successful candidates for our Assistant Director of Purchasing opportunity will:
Have proven procurement and purchasing leadership experience, ideally within a luxury hospitality or five-star hotel environment.
Demonstrate experience in strategic sourcing, tender management, supplier negotiations, contract administration, and cost-control initiatives.
Possess strong working knowledge of the Adaco procurement system and its application in purchasing, inventory management, reporting, and operational controls.
Be commercially minded, analytical, and passionate about driving efficiencies, process improvements, and best procurement practices.
Have experience supporting systems development, SOP implementation, and procurement transformation projects.
Be confident leading, coaching, and developing teams within a fast-paced operational environment.
Possess excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
Be proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional service, quality, and operational standards.
