Are you an experienced Plant or Municipal Vehicle Technician looking for a stable, workshop-based role? We are a market-leading manufacturer and maintainer of specialist vehicles, and we are looking for a skilled Workshop Technician to join our high-performing team in Livingston.
This role is heavily focused on municipal and specialist plant equipment, and candidates with hands-on experience working on road sweepers, grit spreaders, gully suckers, refuse vehicles, and similar plant machinery will be strongly preferred.
About the RoleAs a Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of specialist plant and municipal vehicles within a busy workshop environment. You will work independently and as part of a close-knit technical team, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for operational use.
Key Responsibilities- Service, maintain, and repair municipal plant vehicles, including road sweepers, grit spreaders, gully suckers, and associated equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults efficiently
- Carry out planned maintenance and reactive repair work to industry standards
- Provide practical, cost-effective repair solutions to minimise downtime
- Complete job cards, inspection reports, and compliance paperwork accurately
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within the workshop
- Attend occasional onsite or customer locations when required
- Qualified mechanic, plant engineer, or time-served technician
- Strong plant or municipal vehicle experience (road sweepers, gritters, gully suckers massively preferred)
- Solid understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
- Experience working on plant equipment, HGVs, or specialist vehicles
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to fault-finding
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to quality workmanship
- A reasonably clean UK driving licence
