The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established hotel and events venue for an experienced and enthusiastic Sous Chef to join their kitchen team. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food across multiple dining outlets, events, banqueting functions, and hospitality services. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in the smooth running of all kitchen operations.
- Maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, and consistency standards.
- Assist with menu planning and development, ensuring dishes reflect current food trends and customer expectations.
- Control food costs, stock levels, waste, and portion sizes to achieve budgetary targets.
- Assist with purchasing and supplier management within agreed budgets.
- Conduct and support stock takes and inventory management.
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are consistently met.
- Monitor food production from preparation through to service, maintaining quality control at every stage.
- Support the delivery of banqueting, events, restaurant, and hospitality services.
- Lead, motivate, and develop kitchen team members through training and coaching.
- Assist with staff scheduling and workload planning to meet business demands.
- Foster strong communication and collaboration between the kitchen and other departments.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive working environment focused on guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Support audits, inspections, and compliance processes as required.
About You
We are looking for a passionate and organised chef with strong leadership skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef, or a strong Senior Chef de Partie ready to step up.
- Level 2 Food Safety qualification (or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of food hygiene, HACCP, and health & safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a busy kitchen environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for food, quality, and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Experience within a hotel, multi-outlet, or high-volume hospitality environment.
- Banqueting and events catering experience.
- Experience managing stock control, food costing, and kitchen budgets.
