The role

We are looking for an experienced Truck Sales Executive to drive profitable growth across a range of Medium and Heavy Duty commercial vehicles. You will be responsible for developing an established sales territory, winning new business and building long-term relationships with fleet operators and commercial customers. This is a consultative, solution-led sales role where you will sell complete transport packages, including vehicles, finance, maintenance, telematics and ongoing fleet support. You will also support customers as they transition towards zero-emission and alternative-fuel transport solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Sales and territory management
    • Take ownership of a defined Medium and Heavy Duty truck sales territory.
    • Identify, target and convert new business opportunities.
    • Develop and grow existing customer accounts.
    • Build structured account plans for key fleet and regional customers.
    • Increase market share across the assigned territory.
    • Deliver agreed vehicle sales, margin and product-mix targets.
    • Maintain strong relationships with fleet operators, transport managers and business owners.
  • Consultative and solution-based selling
    • Understand each customer's operational and commercial requirements.
    • Sell complete transport solutions rather than vehicles alone.
    • Promote finance and funding options.
    • Sell repair and maintenance contracts.
    • Introduce telematics, uptime services and vehicle lifecycle support.
    • Demonstrate total cost of ownership and long-term customer value.
    • Negotiate commercially sound agreements while protecting margin.
  • Electric vehicles and future transport
    • Promote zero-emission and electric Medium and Heavy Duty vehicle solutions.
    • Support customers with their transition to electric and alternative-fuel fleets.
    • Assist with vehicle demonstrations, trials and pilot projects.
    • Discuss charging, vehicle suitability and operational requirements with customers.
  • CRM and pipeline management
    • Use the company CRM system to manage all sales activity.
    • Record opportunities, customer interactions and forecasts accurately.
    • Maintain a structured and up-to-date sales pipeline.
    • Provide regular reports on sales activity, performance and market opportunities.
    • Follow the company's sales process, reporting standards and governance requirements.
  • Customer experience and collaboration
    • Work closely with Sales Support, Aftersales, Rental and Finance teams.
    • Ensure customers receive a smooth and professional sales experience.
    • Complete detailed sales handovers before vehicle delivery.
    • Conduct post-delivery follow-ups and maintain ongoing customer relationships.
    • Represent the business professionally at customer events, vehicle demonstrations and industry initiatives.

What we are looking for

  • Essential
    • Proven B2B sales experience within trucks, commercial vehicles, plant, machinery or capital equipment.
    • Experience developing new business and managing an established sales territory.
    • Strong understanding of fleet sales, contract negotiation and solution-based selling.
    • Ability to build long-term relationships with commercial customers.
    • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
    • Experience managing sales pipelines, margins and targets.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Self-motivated, organised and results-focused.
    • Full UK driving licence.
  • Desirable
    • Previous experience selling Medium or Heavy Duty trucks.
    • Experience working within a truck manufacturer or dealer network.
    • Knowledge of electric, zero-emission or alternative-fuel commercial vehicles.
    • Existing relationships within the Midlands transport and haulage sector.
    • Experience using a CRM system.

Benefits

  • Competitive basic salary.
  • Performance-related bonus.
  • Company car.
  • 28 days' holiday, including bank holidays.
  • Option to purchase an additional five days' holiday.
  • Holiday entitlement increasing with length of service.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Mental health and wellbeing support.
  • Unlimited £750 Refer a Friend scheme.
  • Birthday and Christmas gift vouchers.
  • Hotel discounts across the UK.
  • Retail, gym and cinema discounts.
  • Manufacturer training.
  • Leadership and mentoring development programmes.
  • Long-term career progression opportunities.
  • Team, community and charity events.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced truck or commercial vehicle sales professional to develop a valuable territory and build strong long-term relationships with customers across the Midlands.
