An industry-leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Construction Manager / Project Director to lead the delivery of major geotechnical works on one of the UK's largest infrastructure programmes. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of complex diaphragm wall and soil mixing packages on a nationally significant project, working within a collaborative NEC4 Alliance environment.
The Role
- Provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple workstreams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership
- Lead the delivery of diaphragm wall and soil mixing works
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams across engineering, construction and commercial
- Drive programme performance and project delivery from planning through to completion
- Build strong relationships with clients, alliance partners and senior stakeholders
- Health, Safety & Quality
- Champion a strong Zero Harm culture
- Lead safety initiatives, investigations and continuous improvement
- Ensure quality standards and technical compliance across all works
- Promote best practice throughout project delivery
- Commercial & Programme
- Oversee project budgets, forecasting and CVRs
- Manage NEC4 contracts, compensation events and change control
- Monitor productivity, programme performance and critical path activities
- Support commercial negotiations and risk management
- Technical & Operational
- Coordinate engineering, design, procurement and construction teams
- Provide leadership across complex geotechnical operations
- Ensure successful integration of all project functions
- Drive innovation and efficient project delivery
About You
- We're looking for an experienced senior leader with:
- Significant experience delivering major infrastructure or civil engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of diaphragm walls, ground engineering or soil improvement works
- Proven experience leading large multidisciplinary construction teams
- Strong commercial awareness and NEC contract knowledge (NEC4 desirable)
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
- CSCS & SMSTS (or equivalent)
- Desirable Alliance project experience
- NEC4 Accreditation
- Leadership or Management qualification
- Experience using P6, CEMAR, MS Project or Power BI
- Strong understanding of CVRs, earned value and project controls
