As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in strengthening the Through Life Support team, bringing depth of experience, technical leadership, and resilience to complex challenges. You'll provide both tactical and strategic support, ensuring short-term delivery while contributing to longer term business success.

You'll sit at the intersection of engineering, production, quality, and suppliers, taking ownership of investigations, driving root cause resolution, and ensuring robust, manufacturable engineering solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Represent Engineering at Level 1 & 2 QRQC meetings, providing clear technical direction and confident decision making.
  • Work closely with OE and MRO teams to deliver high quality engineering solutions and supporting documentation.
  • Act as a senior engineering point of contact across production, suppliers, assembly, and test teams.
  • Support production teams to meet demanding build schedules by resolving engineering issues quickly and effectively.
  • Lead engineering investigations, delivering clear, concise analyses and robust corrective actions.
  • Demonstrate persistence and technical depth when tackling complex, high pressure engineering challenges.
  • Translate customer and internal requirements into robust mechanical designs.
  • Apply calculations, analysis, and validation tools to verify and refine solutions.
  • Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture, assembly, cost, and quality.
  • Lead detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities and drive corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, both technically and behaviourally.
  • Author, review, and approve engineering documentation throughout the through life support phase.
  • Contribute to and report against engineering KPIs and budget targets.

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong background designing complex electromechanical products within highly regulated industries (e.g. aerospace).
  • Proven ability to analyse complex problems and deliver practical, high quality engineering solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and production methods.
  • Experience leading investigations, RCA, and design assurance activities.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience with rotating machinery, including motors and generators.
  • Background across R&T, R&D, and NPI environments.
  • Strong CAD/PLM capability (NX, CATIA, Teamcenter, Windchill).
  • Ability to interpret and challenge technical analyses (FEA, thermal, bearings, hand calculations).
