We're recruiting on behalf of an established and highly respected UK manufacturer with an excellent reputation for quality, innovation and continuous improvement.
This is a pivotal leadership position where you'll take ownership of the Technical function, leading New Product Development (NPD), Research & Development (R&D), Quality, Compliance and Health & Safety, whilst managing an experienced technical team responsible for delivering innovative products and maintaining the highest manufacturing standards.

Building Materials
Aggregates
Chemical Manufacturing

The Opportunity Reporting directly to senior leadership, you'll lead and develop a multi-disciplinary technical team of 4-6 professionals , including:
Quality Manager
Compliance Manager
Health & Safety
R&D Technician
This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll be responsible for driving innovation, ensuring compliance, developing new products and continually improving manufacturing standards across the business.
You'll work closely with Production, Operations, Commercial and Senior Management to ensure products are developed efficiently, manufactured to the highest quality standards and delivered in line with customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities Lead the company's Technical function.
Manage all New Product Development (NPD) projects from concept through to successful product launch.
Drive Research & Development activities, ensuring products meet customer, commercial and legislative requirements.
Plan, manage and oversee product trials, testing and validation.
Lead cross-functional technical projects across Manufacturing, Production, Commercial and Supply Chain.
Develop and implement technical strategies that support business growth.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Lead Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) activities, ensuring robust manufacturing standards are maintained.
Ensure full compliance with relevant legislation, customer specifications and industry standards.
Champion Health & Safety throughout the business and promote a positive safety culture.
Lead investigations into technical, manufacturing and quality issues, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.
Develop, coach and mentor a high-performing technical team.
Build strong working relationships across all departments, ensuring technical excellence supports operational success.
What We're Looking For We're looking for an experienced Technical Manager who combines strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach to technical problem-solving.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
Proven Technical Management experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experience within Construction Products, Building Materials, Aggregates or Chemical Manufacturing.
Strong New Product Development (NPD) experience.
Research & Development (R&D) experience.
Experience leading product trials, testing and validation.
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent understanding of Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC).
Experience managing technical compliance within a manufacturing environment.
Experience leading, developing and motivating technical teams.
A strong Continuous Improvement mindset with a passion for driving operational excellence.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Health & Safety Ideally, you'll hold one of the following:
NEBOSH General Certificate
IOSH Managing Safely
Candidates without formal qualifications will still be considered if they can demonstrate significant Health & Safety leadership and compliance experience within manufacturing.
