We are looking for an experienced Switchgear Engineer to join a great team in an established family-owned business in Leeds (LS11). Our client is a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrical power distribution equipment and pioneers of super low loss amorphous transformer technology.
The Role:
This is a new role working with our Engineering Department to assist with providing technical support and guidance to WPS UK and their RMU & LV cabinets/Feeder Pillar suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
Review Technical specification, SLD and estimate RMU, LV cabinets, Feeder Pillar tender selling prices for Sales engineers and tendering to quote to the customer, based on supplier prices.
Coordinate with purchase department & maintain up to date monthly prices from suppliers, sending enquiries to suppliers and follow up from quotes.
BOM- establish and select component parts to fulfil the customer specification
Drawing approvals to suppliers.
Monitoring any material problems at suppliers and suggesting alternatives. Taking quality issue feedback to suppliers and finding solutions to avoid reoccurrence.
Visiting supplier premises for process and inspection of goods if needed.
Developing new suppliers for various products.
Providing technical support, calculations and particulars as and when required for all Group departments
Providing support with technical queries from customers and attending customer visits if required.
Contacting suppliers, if needed any technical support.
Perusing tender specs and advising Sales engineers.
Providing technical support for all Group projects
Working with third party consultants where appropriate.
Technical Knowledge & Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering Essential
5 Years experience Engineering/Sales/Tendering in LV & HV Switchgear industry.
Essential
Technical knowledge of LV ACB and MCCB switchgear cabinets, with a strong understanding of BS EN IEC 61439 and bespoke LV cabinet specifications. Essential
Technical knowledge and experience in SF6-insulated and air-insulated MV RMUs and circuit breakers, with a sound understanding of BS EN IEC 62271, ENA TS 41-36, and switchgear accessories, including TLF and VIP protection. Essential
Familiarity with UK DNO and ICP standards and specifications, including UKPN, SSEN, SPEN, NPG, NGED, ENWL, and other UK distribution network requirements.
Good understanding of LV and MV switchgear layouts and configurations, including close-coupled, free-standing, extensible, and non-extensible RMUs, in accordance with BS EN IEC 62271-200 and ENA TS 41-3

Working hours:
37.5 hours per week worked between 7:45am and 4:45pm Monday to Thursday and 7:45am to 3:30pm on Friday, entitled to an unpaid one-half hour lunch taken between 12:30pm and 1:00pm
