Project Manager - Electrical 1-year fixed term contract / secondment (maternity cover). After the secondment ends, you will return to your previous role.

Location: Hybrid working, work from home with occasional office days (mainly Leeds area LS9 / LS10) and regional site visits. Work type: 1 year fixed term contract / secondment (maternity cover), 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join us in the Electrical Engineering Team and be a part of helping us give the very best service to our customers.

Engineering is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

The Electrical Engineering Team forms one of the 8 Teams within the Engineering Section under Yorkshire Water's Asset Delivery Business Unit. There are 10 members to the Electrical Engineering Team which includes Engineers, Technicians, Administrators and, should you be successful, yourself (a Project Manager). The Electrical Engineering Team delivers a myriad of projects and initiatives ranging from the delivery of standards and policy, to renewable energy initiatives, to the delivery of large-scale High Voltage and Low Voltage Inspection Programmes.

Should you be successful, as a Project Manager, you will provide the Project Management of the Capital and Revenue High Voltage and Low Voltage Inspection and Testing programmes with the support of the rest of the Electrical Engineering team.

As a Project Manager you will:

  • Manage and successfully deliver capital projects to time, cost and quality working (principally the contracts for Inspection and Testing of Low Voltage and High Voltage Electrical Systems)
  • Lead a collaborative project team consisting of YW & Framework Partner colleagues, plus other stakeholders, to efficiently deliver the programme of work
  • Manage the multiple project budgets of varying values at any one time and over the financial year
  • Keep a spotlight on Health & Safety, risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policies
  • Ensure the Duties of the Client as defined in CDM 2015 are fulfilled for the programme of work under your control
  • Obtain project funding approvals, and maintain good financial governance throughout the lifecycle of the projects
  • Ensure accurate project data is maintained in various systems, including monthly forecasting of expenditure and key milestone dates

What skills & qualifications you'll need:

  • Experience working in a project team or similar environment
  • Manage budgets and interpret financial data with a knowledge of SAP financial management
  • A working knowledge and experience of managing contracts up to a value of £10M per annum
  • Build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Personable nature and collaborative approach
  • Strong communicator both written and verbally
  • Problem solving to resolve and mediate project issues
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
  • A full UK driving licence

You will also benefit from having:

  • 2 years minimum experience working as a Project Manager in the Water Industry or broader Electrical / Construction Industry
  • NEC4 experience and / or accreditation
  • AMPQ or similar
  • A working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations
