As our new Lead Data Scientist, you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering Jet2's Data Science strategy, helping us unlock the value of our data to drive business performance, innovation and customer experience. Based at Holiday House in Leeds City Centre, this is a hybrid role, giving you the flexibility to work from home and the office.

What you'll be doing:
Reporting to the Data Science Manager, our Lead Data Scientist will be responsible for leading a team of Data Scientists and delivering innovative data science solutions that drive commercial value across the Jet2 business. You'll work closely with stakeholders from across the organisation to identify opportunities where data science can enhance decision-making, optimise business processes and unlock new revenue opportunities. Leading projects from concept through to production, you'll apply machine learning, statistical modelling and advanced analytics techniques to solve complex business challenges.
You'll also:
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Data Scientists, supporting their technical and professional growth
- Plan and deliver data science initiatives using Agile ways of working, including sprint planning and progress reporting
- Develop, deploy and monitor machine learning models and analytical solutions in a production environment
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, governance and the efficient use of data across its lifecycle
- Collaborate with teams across Jet2.com and Jet2holidays to maximise the value delivered through data and analytics
- Help shape the future direction of Data Science within Jet2 by keeping abreast of emerging technologies, tools and methodologies
What you'll have:
The successful candidate will have significant experience delivering data science projects within a commercial environment and a proven track record of creating value through machine learning and advanced analytics. You'll also have:
- A strong statistical or highly numerate academic background
- Advanced skills in Python and SQL
- Experience developing, deploying and maintaining predictive and machine learning models in production environments
- Experience leading and mentoring Data Scientists within a high-performing team
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels
- Experience working within Agile delivery frameworks and contributing to sprint planning and project delivery
- An appreciation of data governance principles and data quality management
- The ability to present complex information through clear and compelling data visualisations, ideally using Tableau
- Experience of cloud-based data science technologies, ideally including AWS SageMaker, AWS Bedrock and Snowflake, would be highly desirable
- A passion for continuous learning and staying up to date with emerging data science tools, technologies and practices
