I am currently working with a well-established, family-run horticulture business that is known for its quality products, reliable service and strong customer relationships. As the business continues to grow, they are looking to appoint a hands-on Operations Supervisor to support their fulfilment and stock control operations, particularly during busy seasonal peaks.
This is a key role for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, practical environment and takes pride in leading teams, improving processes and maintaining high levels of accuracy.
The Role
You will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the order fulfilment team, ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, packed efficiently and dispatched on time. You will also take ownership of stock control processes, helping to improve inventory accuracy, visibility and reporting across the business.
You will act as a key operational contact for both internal teams and customers, supporting smooth communication and consistent service delivery.
Responsibilites
Supervise and support the order fulfilment team, including 4 permanent staff and agency workers during peak periods
Train and oversee agency staff to ensure consistent standards are maintained
Ensure customer orders are picked accurately and dispatched within agreed timescales
Monitor workflow and allocate resources effectively to maintain productivity and service levels
Support seasonal planning and labour coordination during peak demand periods
Take ownership of stock availability and inventory accuracy across the business
Help develop and implement structured stock control processes and procedures
Manage inventory reporting, stock movements and reconciliation activities
Use Excel to improve stock visibility, accuracy and operational reporting
Identify and implement process improvements across fulfilment and inventory management
Act as the primary operational contact for key customer account BGC
Manage customer communication regarding stock availability and order fulfilment
Support continuous improvement across warehousing and operational processes
Produce accurate operational reports and performance data
Ensure compliance with company procedures, health and safety and quality standards
About You
You will have experience working in a fast-paced operational environment and be confident leading teams while maintaining strong attention to detail around stock and inventory.
Essential experience and skills:
Experience in warehousing, logistics, production, horticulture or FMCG environments
Experience supervising or leading operational teams
Strong understanding of stock control and inventory management
Confident using Microsoft Excel and working with operational data
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships
Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take ownership of key processes
Desirable experience:
Background in horticulture, fresh produce or food manufacturing
Experience managing customer relationships or acting as a key operational contact
Exposure to process improvement or systems development
Understanding of inventory reporting and stock planning
