Whats on offer?
Opportunity to work a 4-day working week for the right person
Hybrid working (2 days in the office)
25 days holiday + statutory days
Opportunity to put your stamp on and develop a payroll function
Campbell Grove Talent are exclusively partnering with a PE backed, growing business on the outskirts of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, supporting with the search for a Payroll Lead to join their finance team, on a full or part-time basis.
Were on the lookout for a payroll professional who takes real pride in accuracy, and who's ready to take the reins on delivering a payroll service colleagues can rely on without a second thought.
This isn't a "cog in a big team" role. You'll be the payroll function - running it end-to-end, hands-on, day to day, while also being the one who handles the trickier stuff and shapes how it grows as the business does.
You'll have solid payroll experience under your belt, and you'll be looking for a role where you can genuinely own the process rather than just be a cog in it. There's real scope here to grow the function as the wider business grows, but you must be happy being entirely hands on and controlling all areas of payroll by yourself.
Our client is open to this being full time or four days a week for the right person, and theyre genuinely flexible on how that works. Add in hybrid working between home, and this is a role that respects your time outside of work as much as the time you give to it.
What the role involves:
Running payroll from start to finish across both fortnightly and monthly cycles
Getting the numbers right - pay, bonuses, commission, deductions and statutory payments
Keeping on top of starters, leavers and any changes to contracts or terms
Checking everything balances before payments go out, and making sure they land on time
Handling RTI submissions to HMRC, accurately and to deadline
Being the go-to person when employees or managers have payroll questions - with patience and clarity
Keeping payroll records clean and reliable, and pulling together reporting for Finance and senior leadership
Getting involved in audits, compliance checks, system upgrades and making processes better
What you'll bring:
Solid hands-on payroll experience
A good grasp of UK payroll law, HMRC rules and statutory pay requirements
Comfortable working with payroll software - Sage experience is a bonus
A logical, problem-solving mindset
The confidence to communicate well and handle sensitive information properly
If youre looking for a role where you'll have real autonomy over the end-to-end process, working alongside Finance, People and operational teams to shape how things are done, then this would be the perfect role to apply for.
