Interaction Recruitment is currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Regional Business Development Manager to join a growing materials handling and equipment business, covering the Northampton and Leicester region. This is a field-based new business role focused on identifying new customers, opening doors and building a strong pipeline of opportunities. You will be out in the market meeting prospective customers, understanding their requirements and developing relationships across a range of industries.

The role would suit a driven, confident and resilient sales professional who enjoys winning new business and is comfortable with proactive prospecting, face-to-face meetings and developing a territory.

The Role

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the Central region.
  • Proactively prospect through customer visits, cold calling, networking, referrals and local market research.
  • Build relationships with new and existing customers and identify opportunities for additional hire, sales, service and parts.
  • Visit prospective customers and generate new sales opportunities.
  • Understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate products and solutions.
  • Prepare and follow up quotations.
  • Develop smaller opportunities through to agreement.
  • Qualify larger opportunities and hand them over to the wider sales team for development and closure.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity, prospects and opportunities on the CRM.
  • Plan and manage your territory effectively to maximise new business opportunities.
  • Monitor market activity and identify new sectors and potential customers.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong new-business mindset who enjoys getting out and meeting customers rather than relying solely on inbound enquiries. You may come from a background in:

  • Materials Handling / Forklift
  • Plant or Tool Hire
  • Powered Access
  • Industrial or Engineering Sales
  • Commercial Cleaning Equipment
  • Warehouse or Logistics Equipment
  • Packaging
  • Construction or Building Products
  • Other B2B Field Sales environments

Materials handling experience is advantageous but not essential. What matters most is your ability to prospect, build relationships and create opportunities.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience in sales, business development or a customer-facing B2B role.
  • A proven appetite for generating new business.
  • Confidence approaching new customers and decision-makers.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Resilience and determination when faced with rejection.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach.
  • Good organisational and territory management skills.
  • Confidence using CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a wider sales team.

What's on Offer?

  • £28,000 – £32,000 basic salary, dependent on experience.
  • Bonus/commission opportunity.
  • Company vehicle.
  • 24 days holiday + 8 bank holidays.
  • Company pension.
  • Ongoing training and development.
  • Recognition and reward schemes.
  • Company social events.
  • The opportunity to develop your career within a growing, established business.

If you are a proactive B2B salesperson who enjoys finding new customers, getting out on the road and building a territory, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today with your CV or contact Interaction Recruitment for more information.
