Your new company is delivering one of the UK's largest and most important infrastructure projects, helping to support the country's future energy needs and net-zero ambitions. As construction activity continues to increase, they are looking to appoint an Environmental Advisor to support environmental compliance and sustainability performance across the project.

Your new role as an Environmental Advisor will involve supporting the delivery of environmental compliance across a major construction site. You will work closely with project teams, contractors and environmental specialists to ensure environmental risks are effectively managed whilst promoting best practice throughout the construction lifecycle.
Reporting into the Environmental Manager, you will provide practical environmental advice to site teams, assist with monitoring and inspections, and help maintain compliance with environmental permits, licences and regulatory commitments.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting environmental compliance across construction activities.
- Conducting site inspections, audits and environmental monitoring activities.
- Assisting with the implementation of environmental management plans and controls.
- Monitoring environmental performance and reporting findings to project teams.
- Supporting investigations into environmental incidents and near misses.
- Working closely with contractors to ensure environmental standards are maintained.
- Assisting with permit, licence and consent compliance requirements.
- Supporting environmental reporting, performance metrics and KPI tracking.
- Promoting environmental best practice and raising awareness amongst site personnel.
- Maintaining accurate environmental records and documentation.
- Assisting with regulator visits, audits and inspections.
- Supporting sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programmes across the project.
What you'll need to succeed:
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in an environmental role within construction, infrastructure, engineering, utilities or a similar sector.
- Good understanding of UK environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting environmental management systems, ideally ISO 14001.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with site teams and stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable experience includes:
- Membership of a relevant professional body, such as IEMA.
- Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or highly regulated projects.
- Knowledge of environmental permits, licences and consent management.
- Experience supporting sustainability initiatives and environmental performance reporting.
