We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join a property-focused organisation based in Horsham. This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional with experience working across property, housing, facilities, construction or a similar built-environment setting. The role will involve providing practical health and safety advice across a varied property portfolio, supporting colleagues and contractors while helping to maintain strong compliance standards.
The Role
- Providing practical health and safety advice to internal teams and management
- Supporting compliance with relevant UK health and safety legislation
- Carrying out inspections, audits and risk assessments across properties and operational sites
- Identifying potential hazards and recommending appropriate control measures
- Monitoring health and safety standards across a property portfolio
- Advising on contractor health and safety requirements and performance
- Supporting the management of construction, maintenance and refurbishment activities
- Reviewing method statements, risk assessments and other relevant documentation
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and recommending corrective actions
- Maintaining accurate health and safety records and compliance documentation
- Supporting the development and review of health and safety policies and procedures
- Providing guidance, training and awareness sessions to colleagues where required
- Monitoring actions arising from inspections, audits and risk assessments
- Working collaboratively with property, facilities, maintenance and operational teams
- Keeping up to date with changes to relevant legislation and industry best practice
- Producing reports and recommendations for management
About You
We're looking for a confident and practical Health & Safety professional who can work effectively across a property environment and communicate with people at all levels. You should have:
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor or similar role
- Experience within property, housing, facilities, construction or another relevant built-environment setting
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
- Experience carrying out risk assessments, inspections and audits
- Experience working with contractors and external service providers
- Strong understanding of workplace and property-related health and safety risks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Strong organisational and reporting abilities
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential risks
- The confidence to challenge poor practices and provide constructive advice
- Relevant health and safety qualifications, such as NEBOSH or IOSH, would be highly desirable
