The role

As an Apprentice Commercial Development Consultant, you'll step into a dynamic, customer-focused role where no two days are the same. This is an exciting opportunity to build a strong foundation in commercial and technical expertise while gaining hands-on experience in delivering water quality assessments to our customers. Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll develop a broad range of highly transferable business skills, supported by a recognised Level 4 Sales Executive qualification. With continuous learning, real-world exposure, and expert guidance, you'll grow the confidence, knowledge, and capability needed to deliver exceptional service and ultimately progress into a fully qualified Consultant.

Our consultants are at the heart of what we do - trusted advisors and the key point of contact for our customers. Over the course of your two-year journey, you will:

  • Represent the business with professionalism, building strong and trusted relationships with customers;
  • Approach every interaction with energy and enthusiasm, thriving on meeting new people and tackling fresh challenges;
  • Develop resilience and adaptability, confidently navigating the fast-paced demands of a customer-facing role, including managing urgent and sometimes competing priorities.

This is more than just an apprenticeship; it's the start of a rewarding career where you'll make a real impact while continuously growing and developing.

Required skills

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers. We are looking for someone enthusiastic and self-motivated who wants to build rapport with our customers.
  • A good level of written and spoken English, as the role requires writing reports in plain English and undertaking basic data manipulations to interpret test results.
  • The ability to effectively and efficiently organise and prioritise your work.

Qualifications required

  • GCSE grades 4-9 (grade A-C) in English and Maths (or equivalent level 2 qualifications); and
  • At least three A Levels at grades A to C (or equivalent level 3 qualifications).

Experience needed for the role

You don't need specific work experience to join us as an Apprentice Consultant, what matters most is your attitude, curiosity, and willingness to learn. Whether you've had a part-time job, holiday work, or taken part in extracurricular activities, these experiences can demonstrate valuable qualities such as reliability, strong timekeeping, commitment, and a desire to grow. Every experience counts and can help shape your success in this role. You may already have developed transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, or problem-solving, that will support you in building relationships with customers and delivering great service from day one. Above all, we're looking for people with potential, drive, and a positive mindset - we'll give you the tools, support, and training to help you thrive.

Additional information

  • Location: The office based in Horsham, West Sussex (this is partly a field-based role).
