Role Overview:
We are recruiting for an Internal Sales Executive to join a growing sales team within the civils and construction sector. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional who enjoys building customer relationships, converting enquiries into orders and working towards clear targets.
You will manage a mixture of inbound enquiries and proactive outbound sales, preparing quotations, following up opportunities and developing both new and existing customer accounts. Customers will include Builders Merchants, Groundworkers, Civil Engineering Contractors and other businesses operating within the construction sector.
The successful candidate will be organised, target-driven and confident communicating with customers at all levels. Ideally, you will have some experience within construction, civils or a related B2B environment, although full technical training and a structured induction will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve personal and departmental sales and GP targets
- Manage incoming enquiries and prepare accurate quotations
- Proactively follow up quotations and convert opportunities into orders
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers
- Make incoming and outgoing sales calls to customers and prospects
- Identify opportunities to develop targeted accounts and generate new business
- Provide basic technical assistance and product recommendations where required
- Maintain accurate customer information and activity within the CRM system
- Contribute to sales and marketing strategies
- Provide regular sales forecasts
- Monitor and improve quotation-to-order conversion rates
- Work closely with colleagues, suppliers and customers to deliver a high level of service
Experience & Skills:
- Previous experience in B2B sales, account management or internal sales
- Experience within the construction, civils or related industry would be highly desirable
- Strong customer relationship-building and communication skills
- Confident making both inbound and outbound sales calls
- Commercially aware and motivated by achieving targets
- Organised with excellent attention to detail
- Good IT and CRM skills
- Able to communicate confidently with customers and stakeholders at all levels
- A proactive approach with the drive to develop new and existing business
- Existing contacts within the construction/civils sector would be advantageous
- A genuine desire to develop a long-term career within technical sales
