We are looking for an experienced and motivated Transport Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our depot and ensure the safe, efficient and timely movement of vehicles, goods and resources.
The successful candidate will have at least two years experience in a supervisory or operational role within transport and logistics , with a strong understanding of depot operations, fleet management, health and safety, and customer service.
You will be responsible for supervising staff, coordinating daily transport activities, maintaining operational standards and ensuring the depot runs efficiently and in compliance with company procedures and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of depot staff and drivers.
Plan and organise vehicle movements, deliveries, collections and transport schedules.
Ensure vehicles are available, safe, roadworthy and properly maintained.
Monitor driver performance, attendance and compliance with company procedures.
Coordinate vehicle inspections, servicing, repairs and defect reporting.
Ensure all transport and depot documentation is completed accurately and on time.
Monitor loading, unloading and storage activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Maintain high standards of health and safety across the depot.
Investigate and report accidents, incidents, vehicle defects and operational issues.
Liaise with customers, drivers, suppliers and internal departments to resolve problems quickly.
Monitor depot performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure compliance with relevant transport, driver-hours, health and safety and company requirements.
Assist with staff training, development and performance management.
Support the Depot Manager with operational planning and other duties as required.
Essential Requirements Minimum 2 years' experience in transport, logistics, depot operations or a similar supervisory position.
Good working knowledge of transport and logistics operations .
Previous experience supervising drivers or operational staff.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Good understanding of vehicle and fleet operations.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a transport or warehouse environment.
Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport/logistics management systems.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking responsibility for day-to-day operations.
