We are currently recruiting for a Service Technician to join a growing and dynamic operation. This is an exciting opportunity to join a business at a key stage of its development.
This is a varied, hands-on role that requires flexibility, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate will initially work closely alongside the warehouse team to gain a thorough understanding of the company's products, operational processes, and the journey products take before reaching customers. This includes supporting with warehouse activities, such as container destuffing (on an occasional basis), to build product knowledge and operational experience.
The successful candidate will work a two-week rotating shift pattern aligned with warehouse operations:
- Week 1: Outbound Vehicle Quality Control
- Week 2: Inbound Vehicle Inspections and Handover Preparation
A full UK driving licence is essential for this position.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out quality control inspections on outbound vehicles.
- Inspect inbound vehicles and prepare them for handover.
- Support inbound and outbound quality control processes.
- Assess, diagnose and refurbish products designated for outlet sale.
- Prepare historic stock for resale through the new outlet store.
- Oversee refurbishment projects, including furniture and mattress recovery programmes.
- Assess returned products and accurately grade them.
- Manage and maintain spare parts inventory.
- Liaise with suppliers to order parts and stock as required.
- Manage End of Life (EOL) product processes.
- Lead showroom changeovers and coordinate changeover activities.
- Update spreadsheets, internal systems and online portals accurately.
- Ensure all work is completed to company quality and safety standards.
- Develop the capability to work independently while taking ownership of inventory management processes.
This role offers excellent long-term career progression. Following successful training and once fully familiar with the company's product range and processes, the role will naturally evolve into a more traditional field-based Service Technician position. Long-term responsibilities will include:
- Visiting customers across London to carry out repairs, adjustments and installations.
- Resolving technical issues that could not be completed by delivery teams.
- Supporting more complex service requirements across Northern locations when required.
- Delivering a high standard of customer service while representing the business in customers' homes.
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
- Previous experience in furniture refurbishment, furniture repair, upholstery, cabinet making, joinery, quality control or a technical/service-related role is highly desirable.
- Good level of computer literacy with confidence using spreadsheets, online portals and internal systems.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working patterns and operational requirements.
