Our client, a well-established structural steel specialist, is seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join their growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven individual with experience in the construction sector to play a key role in securing new business and developing long-term relationships with contractors, developers, consultants and other key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, managing existing accounts and developing strategic sales plans to support continued business growth across the UK.
Sales Manager Job Overview- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and growth targets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities within the construction sector.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with contractors, developers, architects, consultants and key decision-makers.
- Manage and grow existing client accounts to maximise repeat business opportunities.
- Build and maintain an active sales pipeline, ensuring opportunities are progressed effectively.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and emerging business opportunities.
- Attend client meetings, networking events, exhibitions and industry conferences to promote the business.
- Work closely with estimating, commercial and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales reports and revenue forecasts.
- Negotiate commercially favourable agreements while protecting company margins.
- Previous experience as a Sales Manager, Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, Sales Engineer or Account Manager.
- Experience selling into the construction, structural steel, defence or government sectors.
- Proven ability to generate new business and manage long-term client relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a large geographical sales area.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- IT literate, including CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience selling structural steelwork or steel fabrication solutions.
- Technical qualification such as an Apprenticeship, HNC, HND or Degree.
- Existing network of contacts within contractors, architects, developers or consultants.
- Good understanding of structural steelwork, building envelopes or construction processes.
- £45,000 - £55,000 DOE
