Due to increased project demand, they are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a 6-month fixed-term contract .

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for translating legacy hand-drawn engineering sketches into fully detailed 3D Solid Works models.

Working from existing documentation, you will recreate components and assemblies while ensuring designs are accurate, practical for manufacture, and compliant with engineering standards.

What's involved for the Mechanical Design Engineer
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.

Produce detailed engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs).

Support new product development projects from concept through to manufacture.

Translate legacy hand-drawn engineering sketches into fully detailed 3D Solid Works models.

Work closely with Manufacturing and Production teams to ensure designs are efficient to manufacture.

Carry out engineering calculations, tolerance analysis and design validation.

Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards and company procedures.

Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need
Previous experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Strong experience using 3D CAD software such as Solid Works or similar.

Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Good understanding of engineering principles.

Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.

Experience designing products would be advantageous but is not essential.
