Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager - Residential Groundworks

Location - Northwich

Rate - £350 - £450 per day (Freelance / Ltd Company or Self-Employed)

About the Company

Our client is a well-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor operating throughout the North West, delivering high-quality infrastructure and groundwork packages for some of the region's leading residential developers. Their expertise spans roads and sewers, foundations, drainage, reinforced concrete works, earthworks, retaining structures, plot works, and external infrastructure.

With a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and repeat business, they are looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager to support a growing portfolio of residential groundworks projects.

The Role

  • Managing the commercial delivery of multiple residential groundworks schemes
  • Producing CVRs, cost reports, forecasts, and commercial reporting
  • Preparing valuations, applications for payment, variations, and final accounts
  • Procuring and managing subcontractor packages
  • Monitoring project costs and maximising commercial performance
  • Managing contractual risk and resolving commercial issues
  • Working closely with Directors and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Maintaining excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors, and developers

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
  • Strong residential groundworks and civil engineering experience
  • Previous experience working with leading North West house builders
  • Excellent commercial and contractual knowledge
  • Strong CVR, cost reporting, and forecasting experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple live projects
  • Full UK Driving Licence
