About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Combined Heat & Power (CHP) Plant Operator to join our team. This is a skilled technical role responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of a wood-chip gasification CHP plant.
Applicants must have experience working with industrial plant, power generation, or mechanical/electrical systems. Applications without these qualifications will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and control CHP plant operations, including engine performance, heat recovery systems, and electrical generation output.
Carry out routine inspections, planned maintenance, and first-line repairs on plant equipment.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical or electrical faults promptly to minimise downtime.
Maintain accurate operational records, including production data, maintenance logs, and safety documentation.
Ensure full compliance with safety procedures, environmental regulations, and operational standards.
Support continuous improvement projects and plant optimisation initiatives.
Work collaboratively with the plant team to maintain safe and reliable operations.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Experience in CHP, power generation, boilers, turbines, industrial plant, or similar heavy engineering environments.
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, combustion, and electrical systems.
Hands-on experience with mechanical plant, heat exchangers, and engine maintenance.
Ability to interpret digital readouts, SCADA screens, and performance charts.
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Ability to work independently and within a small team.
Commitment to safety, compliance, and high operational standards.
Hours of Work
4 on / 4 off shift pattern.
