Assistant Buyer The Opportunity A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Buyer to join an established and highly regarded family-owned construction and development business based in Ringwood, Hampshire.
Working as part of a small, hands-on commercial team, you will support the procurement and commercial delivery of a varied portfolio of residential developments, care homes and refurbishment projects across Hampshire, Dorset and the surrounding areas.
This would suit someone who already has some experience within construction buying, procurement or a commercial environment, and is looking for the opportunity to take on more responsibility and develop their career within an established developer.

Assistant Buyer The Role Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the procurement and commercial management of projects from initial procurement through to final account.
You'll work closely with the wider commercial, construction and project teams, as well as suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring materials and services are procured competitively and delivered in line with programme requirements.
Assistant Buyer Key Responsibilities Assisting with the procurement of construction materials, subcontract packages and services.
Preparing and issuing tender and contract documentation.
Obtaining and negotiating competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Supporting the Commercial Manager with project procurement and commercial activities.
Processing purchase orders, valuations, payments and variations.
Maintaining procurement schedules, trackers and commercial records.
Monitoring project costs, budgets and cash flow.
Assisting with monthly cost reporting and commercial updates.
Ensuring suppliers are working from the latest drawings, specifications and project information.
Liaising with site teams to ensure materials and services are available when required.
Attending project and commercial meetings where required.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Ensuring company procedures and commercial processes are followed.
Undertaking regular site visits to monitor progress and procurement requirements.
Assistant Buyer About You We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, organised and keen to progress.
You may already be working as an Assistant Buyer, Buyer, Trainee Buyer, Junior Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or in another construction-based commercial/procurement role.
You'll ideally have:
Previous experience within construction, procurement, buying or a commercial environment.
Good knowledge of construction materials, suppliers and subcontractors.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Good organisational and time-management skills.
A commercially aware and proactive approach.
The ability to manage multiple requirements and deadlines.
Good IT skills and confidence working with spreadsheets and commercial systems.
A willingness to visit sites as required.
A relevant qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Procurement or a related discipline would be advantageous, although practical industry experience will also be considered.
Assistant Buyer What's on Offer? Salary up to £45,000, depending on experience.
Car allowance.
