The Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of an established and growing accountancy practice in Ferndown that is looking to add an Accountant to its busy team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous accountancy practice experience who is looking to continue developing their career within a supportive environment offering study support and genuine progression opportunities. Working closely with a Client Director, you will support a varied portfolio of clients, preparing accounts, VAT returns and Corporation Tax Returns while developing strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts for a varied portfolio of clients.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Prepare and submit Corporation Tax Returns.
- Work from both manual accounting records and accounting software.
- Review client financial records for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
- Manage day-to-day client queries and requests.
- Liaise directly with clients by telephone, email and Microsoft Teams.
- Ensure client records and internal systems remain accurate and up to date.
- Follow up with clients for outstanding information and documentation.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure deadlines and service standards are achieved.
- Manage your workload effectively within a busy practice environment.
About You
To be considered, you should ideally have:
- At least 1 year's experience working within an accountancy practice or accounting environment.
- Experience preparing accounts, VAT returns and/or Corporation Tax Returns.
- Experience using accounting software.
- Good Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Confidence communicating directly with clients.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to continue learning and developing.
You may be AAT, ACCA or ACA qualified, part-qualified or currently studying. Candidates with strong relevant practice experience who are working towards their qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
